DRONES FOR DUGONGS
Dugong conservation research in Malaysia needs drones to evaluate
population health, habitat, and to reduce bycatch of a population of less than 100 dugongs.
Alimosphere is partnering with Marecet to monitor, protect, and study dugongs off the coast of Sibu-Tinggi Archipelago
off Johor’s east coast.
Do you have a drone in the closet or garage looking for a new adventure? This Project is waiting to be matched!
"Conservation is not a one size fits all recipe. What works for conserving dugongs and seagrass in one place may not work for another. It is therefore best to tailor conservation expectations and strategies to local conditions, comprehensively taking into account the governance system(s), stakeholders and local communities’ perceptions on conservation and their socio-economic standings, and assess the drivers of conservation problems first before attempting to fix them."
